UFC Betting

MMA is huge.

When it first become popular I think it was because for some it’s a more exciting form of fighting to watch. And it’s bloody violent.

(People are attracted to violence very much like how they’re attracted to car accidents. It’s awful, but they just can’t seem to turn away.)

Nowadays I think it continues to grow at a fast pace thanks to women’s division. You have fighters like Bethe Correia, Shayna Baszler and the undefeated Ronda ‘Rowdy’ Rousey. Not only is it something new and fun to watch, but they introduce bring a new fan base (women) to the sport.

And guess what? You can bet on all of it.

Just be forewarned. You’re not going to find as many betting options as you would betting on football, basketball or baseball. But it’s a start, and something I imagine will improve over time.

Keep reading to learn more about where you can bet and the different options you’ll have.

Types of MMA/UFC Bets

Here’s a list of UFC-related bets you can make. Remember that each sportsbook will have different options. You should consider having more accounts to have a larger selection of bets to choose from.

Anyway, let’s get to it.

Money Line – This is a straight-up bet on who you think will win the match. A match will look something like this:

Prop Bets – These are bets on unique outcomes. For example, you might bet on what round a fighter will win, how they will win, who will get Fight of the Night or Submission of the Night, and so on.

UFC Accumulators / Parlay Bets – Make money-line bets on multiple fighters on the same ticket. If one match loses you’ll lose the entire ticket. Experts suggest you keep your picks limited to 3-4 fights for the best chances of a winning ticket.

Live Bets – Make bets on matches in real time. Keep in mind that because of how fast the action is, live bet options are limited and will change quickly. But some examples of live bets include if ‘opponent A’ will knock out ‘opponent B’ or if someone will tap out this round.

Over / Under – Most fights are set for 3 rounds. You’ll bet on if you think the fight will end in less than 2.5 rounds, or more. If the fighters are known for quick knockouts then this might be set at 1.5 rounds.

Method of Victory – You’re betting on how you think a fighter will win the match. Will it be by knockout? Submission? Decision?

Draws – You’re betting on whether or not the fight will end in a draw. These are very rare in MMA fighting – so if you got this right you could win lots of money.

Round – Predict what round the fight will end. You can also bet on who you think will win and in what round.

Now you know the different bets you can make. Now its time to learn how to make more money betting on UFC fights.

MMA Betting Tips

Wouldn’t you like to win more of your MMA/UFC bets?

Dumb question, right?!?

Then check out these tips. I think they’ll help you out.

==> Become an MMA handicapper.

Meaning, become an expert at MMA. It’s hard to give advice to someone who wants to bet on random matches or who’s never seen a fight in their life.

They want to win money betting on UFC? Who are they kidding?

The best way to become a winning bettor is become a fanatic. Watch every match you can. Study up on all the fighters. Follow them in the news and social media. Know their strengths, weaknesses and how they compare to their opponents.

From there making money will be that much easier.

==> Pick up a sports betting book.

These won’t show you how to make more money betting MMA, but instead show you how to become a smarter bettor overall. You’ll learn what bets to make, how to price shop and even how to make a living betting sports if that’s what you want to do.

==> Look at each fighter’s history.

Knowing who each fighter is, their record, fighting style, attitude, etc will impact how a fight turns out.

For example, I wouldn’t bet against Rhonda Rousey. Why? Because she’s never lost a fight. I can’t think of a match where she came close.

Another example – Benson Henderson. This guy likes to grapple a lot and doesn’t mind winning fights by decision. And at 7-0 he’s a clear favorite. All that considered, I would bet on him, bet on winning by submission and you could even bet on the match ending during the 3rd round.

I know – most of these tips are research-based. But there’s good reason for that. The more you know about the sport and its fighters, the more educated bets you’ll make. And that means you’ll make more money.
