Caroline Wozniacki vs Sloane Stephens – Tennis Betting Tips

Former world No.1 Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark beat the present world No.1 Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic to advance to the semifinals of the Rogers Cup in Toronto, Canada. She’ll be facing Sloane Stephens of the US next. Wozniacki dominates her series against Stephens with a 5-1 win loss record. With this, the betting odds for their next meeting are hugely in favor of the Dane.

Caroline Wozniacki

It took Wozniacki almost three hours to finally beat Pliskova in the semis at Toronto. She won the first set 7-5, but Pliskova was able to bounce back in the second set and won 6-7(3). Wozniacki’s high level of fitness gave her the big advantage on the last set as she outlast Pliskova to win 6-4.

This was definitely the toughest match for Wozniacki who never lost a set in her first two matches here. She won against Ekaterina Alexandrova in her opening match 6-3 6-0. After that, she scored another easy win over the former world No.2 and newlywed Agnieszka Radwanska in the quarterfinals. She only lost five games in their match to win 6-3 6-1.

Wozniacki has been performing very well this year. She already had five final appearances for this year. Four of those were in Premier level tournaments. But unfortunately she failed to win any title in all of those events. A couple of weeks ago she had her fifth final appearance in an International level tournament in Bastad. She finally got lucky there and won her first WTA singles title for this season. Now, Wozniacki is just one win away from having her sixth final appearance for this year.

Sloane Stephens

Sloane Stephens is now making her presence felt after a long absence on the Tour. It was also here in Canada last year where she suffered a foot injury which forced her to be sidelined for a long time. She went back into action in Wimbledon last June but lost to fellow American Alison Riske in the first round 6-2 7-5. Last week, she began her campaign at the US Open series in Washington. She also failed to make any progress there and lost to Simona Halep in the first round.

After those two disappointing results, Stephens made a lot of improvement here in Toronto. She faced very tough opponents from the beginning of this tournament, but still managed to make it to the semis. She won against Yulia Putintseva (world No.48) in the first round after three sets. It also took her three sets to win against former world No.2 Petra Kvitova in the next stage. Then, she stunned former world No.1 Angelique Kerber in the third round and won their match in straight sets 6-2 6-2. She struggled a bit in the quarterfinals against Lucie Safarova, but nevertheless she still managed to beat her. She’ll face another tough opponent in the semis when she plays against Wozniacki. She has only won once against this player before.

Our Predictions

I’ll back Caroline Wozniacki in my betting tip for this match. She’s definitely in great form right now and the results of her first three matches here is a big proof to this. With this, I’m sure she’ll win again over Stephens.
