Elina Svitolina vs Daria Kasatkina – Tennis Betting Tips

Daria Kasatkina of Russia beat Roberta Vinci of Italy on the first round of the Rogers Cup to advance to the next stage of the tournament. She’ll be playing against Elina Svitolina of Ukraine next. This will only be the second meeting between these two players. They first played against each other last year in New Haven. Svitolina won that match 6-4 5-7 6-0. Will she beat Kasatkina again on this match?

Elina Svitolina

World No.5 Elina Svitolina of Ukraine is the most successful player on the Tour this year. She has already won four titles, two of which were in Premier level tournaments in Dubai and Rome. Aside from this, she also had strong finishes in other events. She reached the semis in Brisbane and the quarterfinals at the French Open. All in all, she has won 36 of the 44 matches she has played so far. This also translates to a very impressive 82% winning percentage.

22 year old Svitolina has been playing tennis professionally for seven years now. She’s definitely at the highest point of her career right now after winning all four titles in just a span of seven months and reaching the No.5 position in the world rankings. But she has always been one of the most underappreciated players in the women’s circuit. Unlike other top players, the 22 year old Ukrainian doesn’t get much attention. This is probably because she hasn’t won a Grand Slam title yet. Let’s see if she’ll finally win her first Grand Slam title at the US Open. But before that she must first prove herself here in Toronto.

Daria Kasatkina

20 year old Daria Kasatkina of Russia is presently ranked No.38 in the world. Last April, she won her first WTA singles title in Charleston. She easily beat Jelena Ostapenko in the final there 6-3 6-1. But aside from achieving this career milestone, she has struggled for most part of the season. She now has a 15-13 win loss record for this year. Six of those wins were from Charleston. She did very poorly in most of the other tournaments she competed. In fact she lost many first round matches in other events which includes the Australian Open, Indian Wells, Miami, and other Premier level clay tournaments.

After taking a long rest after Wimbledon, Kasatkina seems to be back in good form now. She won her first opener against former top ten player Roberta Vinci in straight sets 7-6(3) 7-6(1). Their match took almost two hours, but it was Kasatkina who finally prevailed over the very experienced Vinci in the end.

Our Predictions

I’ll choose to back Elina Svitolina on this match. I think she has a bigger chance to win than Kasatkina here because she’s obviously in better form right now. Kasatkina even struggled to win her first match versus Vinci. Both of the sets she won went to tie breaks and the entire match took almost two hours. With this, I don’t think she’ll beat Svitolina on the next round.
