USA vs Belarus – Tennis Betting Tips

Belarus will play hosts to USA on the final of the 2017 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas this coming weekend. This will only be the second meeting between these two teams. The Americans swept their Belorussian opponents 5-0 in their first meeting during the World Group II first round tie way back in 2012. This time, the Americans are again heavily favored to win against the Belorussians. Could they do a repeat of their 2012 meeting on this upcoming clash?

Team USA will be composed of Coco Vandeweghe (world rank No.10), Sloane Stephens (world rank No.13), Shelby Rogers (world rank No.59) and Alison Riske (world rank No.70). Even without Venus Williams (currently world No.5), this lineup is still very formidable especially when compared to the Belorussian squad. Vandeweghe is still very much in great form. She just finished as runner-up in her last tournament at the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai, China. Reigning US Open champion Sloane Stephens was also in that event but unfortunately was unable to advance to the semifinals. Rogers and Riske are also good additions to this team. They can definitely give all the help that their two other teammates need.

The last time that the Americans won the Fed Cup title was way back in 2000. This was the 17th title they won for this tournament. After that they had many opportunities to win again another title but unfortunately was unable to get the finishing well done. Will they be able to finally succeed in getting their 18th Fed Cup title on this year?

The main headline about the Belarusian team which will play against the Americans here is the absence of former world No.1 Victoria Azarenka. She was supposed to be the most experienced player who’ll be playing for Belarus, but unfortunately she decided not to take part on this event citing personal reasons. It was reported that she’s in the middle of a custody battle for her baby right now. Aside from this, there has been doubts about her form as to whether she could really make a big contribution to Belarus right now. She has only only played a total of six matches since her comeback last June. She also played her last match way back in July during the fourth round at Wimbledon in which she lost to Simona Halep.

With the absence of Azarenka, the highest ranked player in the Belarusian squad will be 19 year old Aryna Sabalenka who is currently ranked No.78 in the world. She’ll be joined by other young players Aliaksandra Sasnovich (world rank No.87) and Vera Lapko (world rank No.131). 25 year old Lidziya Marokava (world rank No.478) will be the oldest player in their lineup.

Our Predictions

I think there’s no reason to doubt team USA’s chances to win the title here. This match might even turn out to be a one-sided affair heavily in favor of the Americans. I’ll definitely back team USA in my betting tip.
